I’m still a little obsessed with the Lavender and Pea Flower combination, from a little while back, when the weather was cooler and nicer I had shared with you a hot Lavender & Pea Flower Latte. With the temperature doing its own thing now, a few cool days and then some unforgiving hot days, all you can think of is iced drinks. And while I’m icing practically everything at home, this beautiful latte deserves its fair share too. This drink is quite soothing and relaxing, hot or cold it is amazing both ways. I do like to make this one a little before hand so it chills well and make a bottle or two extra so I have enough to go around.
I chose to make this latte with Almond Milk, you can use any plant-based milk of your choice. I also prefer to make this without a sweetener, the nut milk tends to have its natural sweetness, and any other sweetness alters the natural fragrance and flavour, but that’s just me, you can add maple syrup or honey or any sweetener of choice.
- 2 cups of Almond Milk ( or any plant-based milk )
- 2 tbsp dried Butterfly Pea Flowers
- 2 tsp dried Lavender Flowers
- 1/2 water
- Sweetener of choice
- dried rose petals for garnish
In a small saucepan, heat the water and add the dried flowers. Bring to a gentle boil and let it simmer for a minute. Cover and let the flowers steep for 5 mins. This would have extracted all the colour and benefits from the flowers. Now add the milk and sweetener and bring to a boil. And strain all of it.
Ideally if you’re patient, pour it in a bottle and chill it overnight in the fridge, if not then make a stronger concoction with lesser milk and more flowers. Strain and cool for 10 mins, put in a blender with some ice and give it a whizz and serve immediately
